Chevy ls1 engine
Hey guys
i just bought my ls1 camaro but unfortunately the engine broke down. So, I found a Chevy ls1 engine 5.7L but it was on camaro, it was on Chevy truck. Any one has an idea if all Chevy ls1 engines are the same. If there are differences, please tell me what the differences are.
Regards

It's probably not actually an ls1. If it came out of a truck its probably a vortec. Almost the same as an ls1 ,but with an iron block and different heads. Also, a slightly lower C/R due to the heads i believe. Correct me if i'm wrong fellas.

thanks for replying
Actually i have no idea the person told me it is the same but i'm worried because i don't want to put it and the car will don't have power as the stock engine. i think i'm not going for it. Do you know a website that has a used engine with warranty?

Guys, they haven't put a 5.7 liter in a pickup truck in years (2000 or so?)
The "truck ls1" may be a 5.3 iron block, or a 6.0 iron block, it is a drop in to a f-car with swapping intakes and oil pans, but it is hardly the "exact same" as a ls1, since the displacement is obviously different.

If you want to keep the samehp but dont wanna spend the cash on an ls1 your best bet bet would either be an lq4 or lq9 6 liters. The lq9 would be the closest to the ls1 with 345hp the lq4 could achieve this by milling the heads down. The 5.3 thats in trucks usually is about 325 hp?? I think

You can find a used block for a 250-500 bucks that's ready to roll. Stock ls1 crankshafts are not much either. If your whole motor is toasted you would be better off trying to find a lower mileage assembled short block. It would save you money.
