recall? It wont happen, you guys are missing the first part of the recall part....Safety...all recalls are done for Safety purposes only. I know it sucks, I have the same problem...99' ws6 florida car. I dont mean to be a *** but I'm an assistant service manager at a dodge dealer and i know its not gm but much of the stuff is similar; either way i just dont want you guys getting your hopes up waiting for a a recall. Sorry. The 30 ta idea should work.....plus when you pull the panel off you can replace the fuzzy window support that always breaks and scratches the hell out of the window...Do you have tint?

Had my passenger side replaced under warranty, it was called a courtesy warranty because the mileage was between 36,000 and 50,000.

That is possible...most dealers have authority to do it up to 50k depending on how they feel. Most times they will do it if you are a good customer or you have a goor relationship with you. The main thing to remember is that they dont owe you anything at all after 36k, so they are doing you a favor...be nice.

I just developed a whole crack in the driver's side and I noticed a 1 in stress mark on the passengers side. My Firehawk only has 22K miles on it. Taking it in and seeing what they can do for me...

If they won't do that, then it may get intersting because I am sure as hell not paying $550 dollars for something that wasn't my fault in any way...

I doubt it is because of heat expansion.

I bet it is somewhat correlated to how hard you close your door and the way the panel flexes when it is shut

Discovered a 1/4 inch separation of plastic on my driverside door on the CETA this past week.
I'm going to be doing the DIY using the pictures that I posted on 30th-TA website. I didn't think this was going to happen to my car, but it did. For those that dont have the problem, I wouldn't wait. Remove your door panel and reinforce the area with something like the epoxy used in the DIY thread.

Good luck everyone

thanks to glyselle from 30th-ta.org for the pics and write up.

Here’s how I repaired my door panel cracks at home.

When I got the panels off, it was pretty obvious what the problem was. The inner glass-run weatherstrip is stapled (heavy-duty staples) to the door panel at the top. Since this strip is steel-backed and rigid, it does not “give” as the door panel shrinks, so the panel cracks. My cracks were pretty bad. But when I pulled out the three end staples, the panel crack came back together very naturally.

As a first step to repair, I used some Super Glue in the crack and wrapped Bungee cords around the door panel to hold it together for several hours. With the crack held together by the Super Glue, I was able to use some epoxy on the backside of the door panel to hold it together. I used the epoxy that’s designed for plastics. I also roughed up the surface with 400-grit sandpaper before applying the epoxy. The repair seemed pretty solid.

Then, to replace the staples, I used Pop Rivets. This should hold the repair solidly together.

The repair is not perfect, but much better. And I seriously doubt the crack will come back anytime soon.

I just finished the repair following the instructions on how to remove the door panel and then the repair instructions that are posted above. I also got some vinyl repair color matched paint to cover up the white stressed plastic on the outside.

Looks brand new!

My crack wasn't that long so it was an easy fix.
I took the passengerside panel off that didn't have a crack yet and just used epoxy to reinforce the area that cracks.

alright mine is that bad split completly down, but it appeared in seconds, i went in store, came out BAM wtf?

its a clean split, and i can verify its not hot eather that does it, i think my door was just too cold and that staple + door closing split it.

accually happened today, it sucked :/

I agree, I believe the cold affects the plastic just as much as the heat does. My panel cracked 1/4inch when it got down to 27degrees here.

I fixed it this past weekend. Wasn't that difficult, but I only had a very small crack. I feel for you guys with a crack down the whole panel.

I wrote up a walkthrough with pics for Firebirds on how to repair it for under $10

Mine appeared in seconds as his did above....I got back in the car after getting our breifly before then, and it had appeared. It had started as a small slit as they all do, down it goes down to the leather insert...it looks horrible...but what can you do.

there are bviously alot of people with this problem, time to complain to gm, using the words class action, we might get a recall then....hah...bastards, i think ill just get a new panel, and on both doors, remove the staples adn use something a little more...flexable the wire above stated would probably be good.

might as well take the chance to completly redo the door, change out the power window motors with aftermarket, and install auto down on pass side
