Default Low Coolant Ligh On

Ok so recently my low coolant light comes on every so often. I checked the level and it was good but I added just a little just to be safe anyhow. But the light still comes on. It does come on right away though. I have to run the car for probably 20 minutes then it will come on. I can shut the car off and start it again and its gone for another 15 minutes or so. Or it might not come back. I have read that these sensor do give out over time. What I was wondering is if the sensor is shot wouldn't it be on all the time? I'm kinda lost on this one. Let me know what you guys think or have heard about this problem before? O and the car never over heats when the light is on.

happens regularly on these cars.

sensor goes bad.

you can unplug the sensor with no problems...as long as you watch your coolant level.

Ya that's what I was thinking of doing. I just found it strange how it doesn't do it on start up every time.

could be something to do with the stat not being open, or temp affecting the sensor, or pressure, or that the coolant level is low on start up till it warms up (expands).

who the hell knows.

no sense wasting money on it though. although i've heard of guys getting more life out of them by pulling em out and cleaning them.

worth a try.

Same here. Nothing to worry about as long as you check your coolant regularly.

mine has been doing it as well, it got me scared thinking that water was entering the motor but so far everything seems normal, just damn sensor goes off if the water goes just a bit low.

not too long ago i notice that the sensor was unplugged and when i plugged it back in i notice that. now i know why the original owner left it unplug lol lol lol.

Yea it's just a bad sensor. Most people check their coolant regularly anyway so they don't even need the sensor.
