Default 96 dodge dakota problem

I dont know if im going to get yelled at for posting this cause its not an f body but I have a 96 Dodge Dakota and I have had it for about two years now. Ever since I bought it It has had a starting issue. Everytime I go out to start it cold or warm it cranks over for like five seconds and then finally starts. I dont know if there is a check valve broken or something? anyone have any ideas?
