Default Need help sealing firewall around a cable....

I have water coming in from where my hood popping cable goes through the firewall.

The grommet is all sorts of messed up and ive tried using clear epoxy to seal it but its too hard to get it all around the cable.

Anyone have any ideas?

If you're lucky, you may find soft chassis plugs at
Lowe's / Home Depot / Ace in the slidey drawers of
hardware. Modify it into a grommet.

There is a 3M marine adhesive sealant (4100?) that
is about the same as windshield weatherstrip adhesive,
which if you prep the thing clean will not come off
for anything. Usually I see it in white but there is a
black flavor (and the windshield adhesive is not a bad
bet either, probably find that at the Zone).

don;t use that foam ****, try pulling on the cable a little then put some silicone and pushing it to it;s normal position that should give you complete coverage

why would the dealer pull off the grommet for you, that doesnt make any sense. besides any good parts house has an assortment of those grommet's. you will probally have to slice it to get it on the cable, then put some silicone on it.

the grommet that goes on there is different than the rest.......its real snug and unique.....I went ahead and used expanding foam just because its in an area that cant be seen, I think its holding up ok lol
