Default what usually dies on turn signal switch that kills the brake lights?

quick question.....no brake lights on my car, everything else works...checked fuses, checked grounds, changed the brake light switch and still nothing. so i am assuming that the turn signal switch is the problem....so what exactly goes out on it? i have read that some say the connectors go bad, is that one right at the bottom of the column? can you cut the wire and just connect it together or what?

thanks

i would look at some wiring schematics to find out what is all in that electrical system and what wires you need to look for to bypass at the mutifunction switch. check the hazards aswell

Nothing on the turn signal switch meshes with the brake lights.

Do the turn signals on the rear work? How did you test your brake switch?

The turn signal part of the circuit goes from the turn signal switch to the rear sockets, but that has nothing to do with the brake signal. The brake signal comes from the pedal switch.

... so, do your turn signals in the rear work with the headlights on and off?
