Default how to stop metal to metal squeak (didn't know where to put this)

This is an interior problem, so this might be the right place for this.

The metal hook that holds the back seat up is squeaking against the metal bolt thing it latches to (<-- technical term). What can I do to permanently stop this. I have tried relatching it, only temporary. I have used WD-40, only temporary. I would just like some ideas to stop this squeak.

Thanks,
Brian

Put some kind of bungy pad to keep the latch in tension,
and lube it with something like graphite that persists better
(messy, though).

Have you checked to make sure that the posts where the latch catches are fully tightened down? They screw into a rectangularly shaped nut that rides up and down, front to back, in a diagonal channel for adjustment. I'd think that if it were loose, the seat could put some force on it, sliding it around a bit. Just my $0.02.

wraping the bolt is a good ideaw, it may wear through eventually but if its making noise because the seat is too loose you could try sticking a towell or something behind the seat and making it latch real tight and that would get rid of the loose rattle
