Default frustrating horn

unfortunately i was dumb enough to buy a 93 Z from a 19 year old in florida...one of the many things wrong with the car he lied about is the horn. no honkin, i replaced the horns still no honkin, i check the fuses, their good, the airbag light is on would that have anything to do with it? i would appreciate the help so next time a f350 changes lanes on me without checkin his blindspot i can let him have it.

On the steering wheel, behind the airbag (on the RH side) is a small metal pin that makes electrical contact when the horn is pressed; if that pin is missing / damaged / lodged in the body of the airbag's mechanisms (spelling?) then the horn will not function.

Ask me how I know...

[Yeah, I bought my car from a punk kid too; they F everything up, but still go on undaunted (stupid as a box of rocks) to the next task.]

Do you have a volt meter? If so get someone to push the horn with the key on a check to see if your getting battery voltsge to the horns. If you are, then check the ground side fo the horns.

If you are not getting power to the horns check for a blown fuse, because its the easiest. If the fuse is good then it has to be in the horn switch in the steering wheel. HTH

make sure you pull the negative battery cable before pulling the steeringwheel off. you will need a steering wheel puller as well.
