I bought one from O'reilly (not sure the brand) for about 120 bucks and haven't had a problem with it.

I'm on my third set of window motors; 2 replacement sets per side. This with only 62K miles.

If I were you, I would avoid aftermarket motors. Go wioth GM if you can, pay more and sleep better....

You have three design choices, sold under various names:

- (GM) This will most likely be a re-manufactured unit (even if the salesperson says its "new," don't believe it unless you see it on their computer) but even if you do get a new one, you'll be saddled with the same poor performance that this design has been exhibiting on cars since it was first installed in the '70s
- (Doorman design) This will be a new direct fit motor of a new design. (The outer case looks different.) This unit is supposed to be better sealed, better able to withstand dust/weather, and should last longer. These are available at any major parts store and I have yet to see a post where someone had a problem with them.
- (ElectricLife) This is a new unit and regulator design that replaces both the regulator and motor. I have this on my car (I got it before the Doorman design came out) and have been running several years without issues. The drawback is that its very expensive and requires some wiring.

Whatever option you pick - make SURE you get the motor AND regulator together. Its not worth going through everything to replace just the motor. In fact, its more of a PITA to get the motor out by itself.

I said it was an expensive option.

My windows are great now - but my hinges are starting to sag. What a pain... I think I'm just going to remove the doors and drive around this summer like I have a Jeep.

Yes, but... the EL motor connector is not keyed to the wires, so you need to hot wire the motor first to make sure the switch operates the motor in the correct direction. Once you've done that, you can make permanent connections. I tapped my EL connectors in to the existing wires and left the stock connector just in case I ever want to go back to a stock setup.

The hinges are sagging? Strange... I mean I've seen doors sag but not hinges. You can adjust the hinges on the body and on the door if its not closing correctly. Its easier to adjust the part of the hinge on the body if you have the front fender off.

I think the bushings on the hinge pins are worn down and causing the misalignment. I'm getting old, the car is getting old. Everything is wearing out and sagging...

I bought 2 repalcement motors off ebay for about $40 shipped 2 years ago. The driver's side one has been great, however the passenger side only lasted 3 days before it stripped out internally. I replaced it with a doorman for $58 from Autozone and have not looked back. If the driver's side ever goes out, it will be replaced with a doorman, as they have lifetime warranties Hope this helps.

That right there will cure 99% of window issues on these cars. As long as its riveted in the right way.

bolt it in, you know its not going to last forever.. so instead of drilling rivets out again you just take the bolts out.
