Default Power Steering pump installation?

Zup! Recently my power steering pump went out. I had it replaced and the whinning noise is still there. The mechanic told me the reason why the PS pump went out was because the pulley is not good. The pulley does have chips around the outer part and pieces missing from the inner ribs. No one local had this pulley so I had to order it from GM ($50). Anywho, does anyone have installation directions or advice on how to install the PS Pulley? The mechanic wants to charge an arm and a leg. Thanx!

You need to get a PS pulley install tol. With the tool, it just presses on.

Radiator can stay in, you'll probably have to clamp the upper hose out of the way, though.

Don't see how a bad pulley as you described it could cause PS pump issues, though. Might have just been a bad reman?

I said the same thing. He insisted I get the pulley asap. I guess we will see. So the pulley tool and maybe remove the top hose? I hope its not time consuming and diificult! Thanx

With the PS puller, it's pretty quick and easy. I tried for about a full week trying to get it off without one, finally broke down and bought the only one Advance Auto had...only to get home, open the package, and find out it was ONLY for the old Quad-4 engines.

You probably won't have to unhook the radiator hose, just push it out of the way.

Well I'm happy to report that it worked. The ps pulley tool was tricky but I managed. Who would of thought by replacing ps pulley the whinning would go away. No more leaks and no more whinning, finally! Thanx everyone who helped.
