Default Total cooling capacity ls1

Did a search and some people say its 11.8q and some say 15.1q.
Im doing a FULL cooling system flush so I need to know the correct amount. I sold my helms manuals with my last ls1 so I dont have that to look at. Whats the CORRECT amount?

It doesn't matter....put a full jug of Dexcool in, the rest with clean water...or if your city water is nasty, go buy distilled water at the food store.

unless you are starting out with a dry engine block and and completely dry heater core and lines you cant get more accurate with mixture than an educated guess.

What i usually end up doing is just adding a gallon of pure coolant and then the rest i mix at 50/50 this usually ends up giving me a freezing point of -40, which is good for me since i needed my car's coolant mixed that thick because of living in north dakota

50/50 mix provides maximum protection from overheating, freezing, and water pump lube. Higher %age of Dexcool will compromise the mixture.

Dont mix those or your asking for engine death. You mix anything but clean water with dexcool & your gonna have a engine full of sludge.

If you have good clean green coolant thank god & dont go back to dexcool

Are you guys doing this flush with the engine running or not? I'm about to do this myself. I might even go as far as taking the radiator off and doing a reverse flush just to be thorough.

yes I do it with the car running and t stat out. Dosent makes sense to wait till that thing opens up. Plus if theres any crap in there why would you want it collecting on the t stat?
I personaly wouldnt worry about a reverse flush. Just stick the hose in the radiator neck, either take out the drain plug or unscrew it so it drains, and let it run.
I was watching the temp guage when this was happening and it only got up to part operating temp. Oh,turn the heat on full blast also.
