hard time turning engine on
hey guys? question? sometimes i have a hard time turnin my car on. when i turn the ignition it just stutters (or cranks). if i hold the ignition on the start position it will stutter or crank for a while then turn on, will holding the ignition on the start position(i dont hold it anymore).what i do when i turn the ignition and starts stuttering or crank i turn it off and try again, till the engine starts. sometimes it starts on the second try, other times it takes a couple of trys. my car runs fine after it starts. it doesnt do that all the time, sometimes it turns on narmally. i was wondering if it would be the starter? any help would be appriciated. thanks. oh sorry for my spelling.

Specs / mods?
Does it do it when the car is cold, warm, or hot?
Here is a long recent thread about problems starting the car when warm:

if its cranking fine then its not a starter. people often get this confused with the term extended crank which is typically related to fuel system problems...which it sounds like you are having.
Try this. On your next attempt to start your car, turn key to "ON" position, wait til you hear the fuel pump stop running (a hum noise from rear of car and will stop after approx 2 seconds after turning key on), then immediatly try to start the car. Do this a few times and if the problem goes away its probably a fuel system thats bleeding down pressure.
