Make sure its out of a 99-03 Truck/Suv and its the 145 amp. Talk to member anthony williams, he said he can get hook ups with a better 175 amp alternator.
Mine is on the way. I splurged for a new one, same price as a stocker, nice heavy duty 145 amp . I just want the damn flickering to stop it has progressively got worse over the past year since I did my swap.

Are you sure your f-body is a 2pin? Mine was a 4-pin and I thought most if not all other 98-02's were as well.

F-bodys have 4 pin connectors.

www.alternatorparts.com

Look at the AD244 compared to one of our stockers. Bolts right in place. There are other places that carry them I just threw that one out there.

Sounds like something is wrong.. It should have a 4 pin, if you go back to the first page of the thread you can see where sjsingle1 posted pics, in one of those he left the connector attached, pay close attention to exactly which wire he left long and connect to that one, my connector came with 4 long wires but I had my original connector to compare to, get one of those connectors then cut the single wire you had going to the 2 pin connector on your car and connect it to that one wire of the 4 pin that is shown in sjsingle1's picture. Should be good to go from there. Its the L terminal that you want the wire to be connected to, you will see which pin that is if you look at the truck alternator, the pins are labeled on the black plastic part of the connector plug on the alternator, the pins are not labeled on the wired side of the connector though, just on the alt.

The GM LS-Series engine equipped vehicles from like 97-03 should have the 4 pin connector. Yours has to have that. Look up anthony Williams, he was a big help to me and he said he can get you a 175 AMP alternator for like $170 or something like that.

Good luck, tell us how it goes after you do the swap. If it doesnt help you might have an electrical short somewhere.

Just to update you guys, My friend let me borrow his Radar detector this last weekend. The radar used to be mine but I sold it to him, but Its a nice one that shows which direction your driving and shows your cars Voltage. On the road going 45 MPH, i had the heater on, the radar plugged in and my stereo at full blast and the radar was reading a 13.7V's. I turned off my heater and the volts jumped to 14.3 then 14.2 then it stayed steady at 14.1 Volts. when i turned my heater back on it stayed right at 14 and dropped to 13.9 lowest. This alternator is working so good, im glad i did the swap!

Swap went good, had to bend the ps line a little more than I wanted too but its in. Now I have a horrible pulley squeek at idle; well not sure its a pulley but its definitely something on the front of my engine. Sounds like its coming from the waterpump or somewhere in that area. Weird it happened after I changed the alternators. Ill mess with it friday. If its not one thing its another with this car.....

I'm a bit surprised you guys had to bend your PS lines - I didn't have to at all but went ahead and moved them maybe an 1/8th of an inch just to be sure.

I probably could have loosened the nut and moved the line down. Bending it was easier I guess

I barely barely bent mine, I moved it maybe an 1/8th inch or so, I really didn't HAVE to at all though.

Well when I pieced this car together after the wreck I very well coulda had the return line turned higher than it normally was. I mean its not like the line is kinked shut now, but it is kinked a little. No worse than the pics the guy earlier in this thread posted.

Cool. Should be fine, if you are worried at all squeeze the pointed parts on the radius where it kinked with pliers to semi reopen up that area of the pipe.

I know that pretty much in order to make it work, i have to just simply get rid of the back bracket and bolt that everyone hates.

My question is, Can somebody that has done this mod please help me out with a Step by step? I have never changed an Alternator on an f-body LS1 before. I might be in for a ride here, but i need to get this fixed, this car is my daily driver, and need it fixed and running before next week for work. Any advice, input or help would be appreciated! Thanks, George
would you happen to have a part number on the alternator & did you use the stock serp belt? im in the process of doing this but seems like my belt is slightly too small i dont wan to have all that force on my tensioner

I have no P/N for the alt....but if you search under the yr truck you can find it

its a 4 pin AD244 alt....you will need a slightly longer belt....do not know what length you need as I use a different size pulley and needed a much longer belt
