Default Truck Alternator in LS1 Mod, Need help

Ok so im pretty sure my alternator is shot, Its not recharging my battery and a test is showing that its got bad Diodes. I have been told that some guys have installed a higher Out put Alternator in their LS1 F-bodies that came off of 99-03 GM Heavy duty trucks/Suvs. I picked up a 145 AMP Alternator Out of an '03 Suburban today that has the 4 Pin connector. I know that pretty much in order to make it work, i have to just simply get rid of the back bracket and bolt that everyone hates.

My question is, Can somebody that has done this mod please help me out with a Step by step? I have never changed an Alternator on an f-body LS1 before. I might be in for a ride here, but i need to get this fixed, this car is my daily driver, and need it fixed and running before next week for work. Any advice, input or help would be appreciated! Thanks, George

undo pos and neg on batt......undo the belt at the tensioner.......remove back alt bracket 13mm and 15mm......PITA to get to......disconnect weather pack on alt.....disconnect batt wire on back of alt 10mm.....loosen 3......15mm on front of alt........2 go to block.......1 goes to alt......i lossened and lowered sway bar to get alt out easier.........alt may or may not want to come out........if not remove all 3 bolts in front...the 15mm ones........take out alt......i used a new weather pack wire to make it longer for the truck alt...since it is in a diff location than the stock alt..some say it fits just fine......install new truck alt......it may be tight but it does fit.......loosen PS hose and try to snake around alt....i had to bend soooooo slight on the top line.....tighten PS back up....discard back bracket.......not needed.......reverse everything else

Thanks man! So did you run an extra battery cable from Alt. to battery to carry the extra juice?
