Header bolt broke off in head?!?!

Default Header bolt broke off in head?!?!

So I went to take my car to clarence to unfuck midas' fucked up job on my exhaust and notice the the exhaust leaking is out of my header, there is a bolt missing. I went to replace the bolt and it wont go in. I took a mirror and it looks like the bolt was somehow broke off in the head....WTF would cause that!?!?! LOL

Anybody got any clues for what the hell to do now? haha

Jupiters ****, once again the gods spread cheek and ram **** lol

which cyl head? and bolt spot? probably will have to get a angle drill..with a smaller drill bit and try drilling the center of the bolt..then get an ez-out in there and try turnin it out..may, or may not have to pull your header off..
cant get that bolt out of the head, you will have to pull the head and either send it out to a machine shop, or try yourself with it on a bench.

its the back driverside bolt, looks to be broke somewhat flush to the head

Can try some really good and hard left hand bits and then an easy out of the bits dont pull it out. Like was said you will need an angle drill.

If that doesnt work you will need to pull the head and weld a nut to the remainder of the bolt to pull it out. I pull broken bolts all day long and hate ez outs with a passion, they almost never work. Welding a washer first then a nut and it will come out like pie every time.

you'll find that ez outs are great for plugging the hole you just drilled in the stuck bolt

Especially Harbor Freight "made in China" ones. If you DO feel compelled to use one, buy the best quality. The back bolt you broke will probably need the head pulled to repair unless you have smurf size tools and an octopus arm.

lol on the ez outs, They do suck an a bitch to drill out of the hole you already drilled out, What id do first is pull the header an see if there is any stud sticking out if so vise grips will be your good friend forsure!!!!!!!

Just be careful when drilling that bolt. You go to far and you will hit the coolant jacket in the head and it is easy to do on an aluminum head.

Damn, this sux too cuz I just had someone weld my headers to my y pipe to fix the leaks issue.

I was looking at some 243 heads and it looks like I can get em semi cheap, any ideas where to get 5.3 heads semi cheap? Are they the same thing? Im somewhat still confused after doing research

You can find the 5.3L truck heads in junk yards, or eGay. IRC, the casting # is 862.
