I hear ya. I'm frustrated with this also. I'm almost thinking it's pcm or bcm related.

Not PCM related.. Not throwing any codes.. I'm not sure if the BCM has any relation to the alt?????

Well, the pcm contols the voltage going to the alt. I tested the voltage on mine and it would fluctuate about .3v without anything else running at the time of the test. Not sure if it should do that but at the same time it does that's when the lights and volt guage flicker. Now I was also concidering the bcm only because I think it controls all lighting. So if its shorting out it could cause a draw and the light and volt guage would respond to this.

If you guys go back and watch this video (http://youtu.be/aOPcnX7V7i4), you'll see that GM directly responded to the CS130's (our alternator) short comings when they came out with the AD244. It had to do with the +'s and -'s being right on top of each other, instead of side by side like on the 244. The guy even says a lot of people have problems like you all, switches to the new alternator, and solve the problem.

I think it's worth a shot.

Default Little Update

So I took the car out last night for a little drive.. It was near dusk, so I had my fogs on and obviously my DRL on. While driving looking at my main gauge cluster and radio I saw no lights dancing, flickering or pulsating. I was getting happy.

But I still have the same problem when slowing down or coming to a stop. the voltmeter gague dips below 13 on the gauge face....

Another thing to note, so as I was driving it was getting darker so I turned my headlights on. So as I'm driving for a while and as I approach a stop sign or stop light, when I go to tap the break, my headlights all dim and my interior lights dim as well????

I need more ideas and help guys

Yeah, I noticed that on mine also. I already tried messing with the break switch though and nothing out of that. Guess I could check the ground for the rear lights on the rear body.

I can't see me getting three brand new alts in a row that are all bad. I don't think a truck alt will fix this problem.

Jesus guys! Watch the damned video! It tells you right there that our alternators are prone to failure because of the WAY THEY ARE DESIGNED!

It's just the way it is. Get the truck alt. and SOLVE the issue. It WILL go away.

Default fixed mine

I had the same problems as alot of you, dimming and surging headlights and instrament panel lights. Didnt know I fixed it at the time but it been gone ever since I did heads. The 15mm bolt on the back side of the driver side head for the ground fron the engine to frame, was loose to the touch. It is hard to but that is the only thing I can think of that fixed it. Give it a try and let me know guys.

I can add this to the mess, I removed the exciter wire from the pcm and cleaned the connection. The alt worked normally for a few 100 miles. SO I have to assume its got something to do with that connection or the voltage regulator. I'm going to do some experimenting and try to find the real problem.

does your car only do it when it starts to warm up? about the half way point on the temp guage? i also checked the ground on the rear body panel for the tail lamps and its fine.
