Default Air bag light on....how to dissable

Hey there,

I bought my 01 Firebird at auction and it was hit on the driver side front fender with just a little damage to the apron (Fender is gone). Anyway, the airbag didn't deploy but the airbag light is on when I drive the car. I'd like it to go away. How can I accomplish this. Is there a way to dissable the airbags all together without removing the bag itself??

The airbag light tells you that there is a problem with the SIR system. The airbags are probably fine. My guess is that the crash took out an airbag system sensor.

If you get the car scanned for codes, the car will tell you where the actual problem is. (FYI - Not all readers will pull SIR codes so you'll need to find someone with a top notch tool, like a dealer.)

Until you get the problem fixed, the airbags may not work in a crash.

Get it scanned and see what the codes are.

you probably need the two front impact sensors and a possibly a control module.
