Default new awesome noise!

So this past week I noticed this awesome noise I'm getting at idle when I first start the car. I can hear it while driving but it's extremely faint. It doesn't get faster so I know it's nothing in the transmission (at least I'm praying). It sounds like metal vibrating or something similar.

Here is a shitty cell video but it can be clearly heard:

I just put mine on the lift due to a strange noise and found it was my cut-out flap vibrating! Makes a hell of a noise at idle.

Well I don't have one of those lol. I'm wondering if this could be also the cause of the vibration I've been having at 70+mph in my drive line.

Nah it's definitely something in the drivetrain. I can hear it when I try to stick my head under the car lol

So, it sounds like someone stuffed maracas or a dead rattle snake in your tailpipe?

I don't think its related - but I'd suggest making sure the noise still happens with your HVAC and blower fan off. (Very common this time of year to get leaves in there - which makes weird noises.)

Other than the blower fan, I can't think of anything else that rotates constantly at the same frequency. So, there must be something loose and vibrating, like a heat shield.

Yeah but it's coming from underneath the car near the transmission

Your blower motor is just a foot or so away from the transmission. Its an easy thing to eliminate. After that, I'd look at the cat heat shields next.

Well I can eliminate the cat shields right off the bat since I don't have any cats haha

Thanks I'll check that out

Did you take out the shields and the cats or just the cats?

Pretty sure those have been gone since before I've owned the car.

Ahhhh - Check the bolts that connect the stick to the shifter. A lot of times the lock washer will wear out, the bolt will back out, and that washer will rattle like crazy. (Then your stick comes disconnected = bad.)

If that's the case, you can use locktite or a better lockwasher to secure the bolts. The locktite made a mess for me - so I went to Nord-lock washers. http://www.nord-lock.com/

Well my buddy said when he pulls up on the shifter it goes away. I wonder if it has something to do with the shifter itself. It's a Pro 5.0.

I posted a thread in the manual trans section since it's technically trans related.
