Easy engine removal

Whats the easiest way to get car up high enough(safely) to get engine outta bottom? Saw a video on youtube guys using car jacks with blocks to top of them ( looked really sketchy). Would a cherry picker be stout enough without picking up the weight of running gear?

Sorry forgot to mention without a lift!! If i had a lift it'd be a walk in the park as far as engine removals go

Get a motor thing, I can't think of the name. And hook it to the front and lift it off the car.

Thats what i was referring to when i said cherry picker i think most of the m have a1000 lbs max lift just wanna make sure not to drop car when its 3 foot off the ground ya know.

From what I've seen those things do just fine. Not quite sure where to hook it, but That is what most people use when they don't have a lift. Also I've seen people raise the back end up and put it on wheels to give the cherry picker a better angle when raising it.

I have a 2 ton HF cherry picker, and I lifted my car just fine with the boom extended to the 1/2 ton spot. I used a heavy duty ratchet strap around the frame rails.
