Default Small oil leak..

I have a very small oil leak where the transmission and engine block meet. I jacked the car up today and looked in the inspection plate on the transmission and it is was dry with no oil. If my rear main seal was leaking would I have found oil inside the transmission when I looked in the inspection plate?

sounds like it may just be the oil pan, you are right though, if you had a rear main leak, youd see oil inside that cover on the motor.

there is also a smalllll chance that the rear plate gasket could be leaking..but chances are its more than likley the oil pan gasket.

Thanks for your response!!! How hard is the pan gasket to change? Also could it be the OPSU slightly leaking because the gauge flickers ocassionally?

no problem, pan gasket will be tough, you will either need to raise the motor, or lower the k member to get the pan completly out, because it weill not clearance the k member, nor the pickup with everything in tact.

id say your issue with the OPSU could just more than likley be the sending unit failing.

I'm gonna have to look again when I have more time it almost lookes like some oil was coming down the passenger side of the block but didnt get a real good look at it. I really just wanted to make sure it wasnt my rear main seal because I just had my tranny dropped and really wouldnt want to drop it again if I dont have to. Thanks for the info!

I just changed the valve cover gaskets because I felt some oil on the back on the drivers side. I felt around the sending unit and didn't feel anything. Hopefully it was just the valve covers lol. Thanks everyone for the help!!
