Default Is the headlight motor or gear messed up?

My headlight will every so often get stuck in the up position. It will eventually go down, but I need to get it fixed. My question is- do I need a gear or motor? It is the passenger side headlight in a 99 formula. Thanks

I would check that the arm of the headlight isnt getting stuck on anything. Typically when headlights go out it is due to the gear stripping, and with that comes horrid grinding noises of it trying to work and not so much it getting stuck.

Check and make sure the headlight cover isnt hitting the hood or body when it goes up and down. Have somebody hit the switch while u watch with the hood all the way closed.

When the light is stuck open, pull the rubber cover off the top of the motor and turn the manual dial. If it doesn't go down manually, its the gear.
