Default Blown AC fuse in my DD

Was driving in the car for about 5 mins or so when my ac started blowing half power. Then smoke started coming from the steering wheel and dash. I pulled over and checked under the hood to see if I could find the source. Nothing wrong at all. Turns our it was the fuse for the ac system, inside the car by the drivers side door jam. The problem Im facing is the fuse burned out so bad, that now the holder is completely corroded. Is there anything I can do to get the ac working again, short of replacing the entire fuse box? Also, if I do go that route, how do I know that the same thing wont happen?
