Default new hawk hps pads......drilled/slotted rotors, heavy braking=airbag light

have about 500 miles on my new brakes, and when i slam them on as hard as i can without sliding, my airbag light comes on and doesnt go away.........while still rolling i turn the key off, wait a few seconds and start it back up and it goes away......since the car is stopping so quickly, does the car think its been in an accident?

seriously tho, if the car is stopping that quickly it may think that its been hit....hence the airbag light

No way the car is stopping so quick it thinks it's in a wreck.
Check for loose connections and grounds in the airbag system. It's likely the increased stopping power is moving loose wires around.

please pull the airbag fuse before you start messing with airbag wires.

I would even put your tilt steering all the way up.

Last thing you want is to accidentally some how trip the system(highly doubt you would/could) and have it punch you in the face.

Mine does the same thing with stock hardware and Duralast CMax front pads. Also does it when I punch the gas from a stop light lol.
