Check engine light came on while driving thru rain
Came someone provide some advice on why my check engine light came on while driving thru bad rainstorm. It was raining sideways and I never drive my car in the rain. BTW my car is a 2000 SS with only lid and catback.

Was the car misfiring badly? My car would misfire in heavy rain so badly that I had to park it and wait for it to dry out. I think it was an ill-fitting airbox lid that was allowing water to get sucked into the gaps. Check your lid fitment to make sure it's water tight.

I have an 04 CTS-V and Ive had the same thing happen to me twice in the last 2 weeks now. First time it rained during the day and the light came on while I was driving home and today it happened while driving to work in the rain. Same P0420 code and everything. Anyone ever figure this out? Can a bad sensor connection cause this?

Wouldnt it have to be the rear or downstream O2s that are bad then? P0420 indicates low efficiency which means the downstream O2 isnt cycling like it is supposed to

Does anyone know if the left and right sensors are the same or not? Can I swap both downstreams to see if the problem moves? If it doesnt, then swap the tops. If the problem moves with the downstreams, thats the prob, if it moves with the tops, then the top is bad, if it doesnt move, then its the cat?
