Default Will these jackstands work?

I'm looking to get a jack and jackstands for my 01 camaro.

Will these jackstands work? I'm worried that the saddle at the top is too deep and the car won't rest on the jackstands cleanly.

http://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-h...nds-38846.html

If these jackstands won't work, please let me know what you guys suggest. I'm thinking I should get ones that have a flatter top piece..

I'm planning on buying this 3 ton jack from Harbor freight.

Cheap Duralast stands are working fine for me although I should have got 3 Ton jack from HF. It was 50.00 for jack, stands, chocks, and creeper. This little jack makes it impossible to lift from the k member or rear end. I gotta do one corner at a time, till its all up.

Stands look good but make sure that jack can go high enough. I'd buy one of the more expensive racing harbor freight jacks like I have... They're fantastic.

Alright thanks. One of the reviews for those jack stands mentioned the saddle on those stands not fitting his frame. I hadn't thought about that being a problem, but I'll go ahead and get them. The jack is 65, and the stands are 15 for the pair, seems like a pretty good deal.

The stand goes to 18.25". I saw in some other threads that some people here have the same jack with no problems.

It does look similar, the top of the jackstand post looks different though. The jack looks like it might be the same. Anyway, I'm about to order the stands and jack. 93 shipped for both, not bad I'd say.

It all looks fine. You might want to get some ramps as well...huge time saver if/when you can use them

Is it okay that the car is just resting on the tangs of the jackstand? I can't really maneuver the stand to fit any better...

Tale the jack stands to a machine shop, they can cut those "Y" tops off in 4 seconds each. Then they'll be flat........

I was thinking about just returning them and buying different jack stands since I feel like a that would be quicker/cheaper than having a machine shop cut them. I know it would take them 2 seconds, but don't want to be charged out the *** for it.

Am I going to have this problem with most jack stands? it looks like most have those extra tangs on the end, although perhaps they are wider..

Machine shop would charge you maybe $5.00 to do them both.......lol

But those jack stands are fine the way they are. I've been using those exact ones, with those exact tops, for 14 years on my F-Body. There's always a good secure place to put them.

Just don't put them on a flat spot if the car is on an incline.

OP, speaking of Harbor Freight, did you see these?

http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece...and-95952.html

Looks like that's an easy $10 fix to your problem - I might actually buy some of these myself. LOL

Where do you put them under your car? I've never jacked up a car... Sorry for all these noob questions. Everything I read said to support it by the frame rails (where I have the jack stand in that picture). I guess I could put them under the k member? But it seems like it would still be resting on those points of the jack stands. I just want to make sure that its secure before I get under the car.

Thanks for helping.

Maybe ill get those rubber covers, but if you use these same jack stands with no problem, they they probably aren't necessary.

Can't you rotate the stands 90 degrees so the "ears" go along the sub frame?

I am so ready to get an aluminum floor jack. I have old 3 ton trusty I have had for more than 20 years but that heavy bitch ran over my ******* toe so we are on the outs right now.
Yea I was in flip flops and am losing my toe nail now. No more grease for that ******* bitch I am looking for a replacement...lol

you can just set the jack stands up so the pinch welds of the car sit in that deep notch in the bottom of the jackstand. easiest and safest way probably.

That style jackstand is fine, plenty of places on the car to use them. You could even get smaller ones, one of those is rated to pick up 2 f-bodies worth of weight...
