Could be electrical, sensor, etc.... Just go somewhere and get the codes scanned. The light is on because the computer detected a problem. Get the codes checked and go from there.

The check gauges light is not the same as a service engine soon/MIL light. There are no codes to set nor read when the check gauges light comes on.

Odd that all the gauges read normal though. I've only seen that light a couple of times, once for low voltage and a couple times when the gas gauge got very low.

yeah that's the one ...

I have been seeing the Voltage drop below 12 occasionally while sitting still with the stereo and AC on... but when the light triggered it was where it should be ,,, I even checked it with my multi meter when I got home .. checked the oil and coolant made sure the battery cables were tight ,,

Gas gauge says 1/2 tank but I forgot to reset the trip the last few times I put gas in .. maybe a bad sending unit ...

Check gauges light works off the sending unit in the tank, as does the fuel gauge. If your gauge says half a tank, the check gauges light should not be on.

My first cheat would be oil pressure. Your oil pressure gauge in the cluster may have broken or be stuck.

If oil pressure checks out good, my guess is a short to ground in the cluster. The idiot lights are turned on and off by ground control in the pcm. If the ground is shorted, it will illuminate without a command from the pcm.

oil pressure is good .. rides right where it should while idling .. Zeros out when powers off .. goes up with RPM ..

I disconnected the battery to see if it would shut off by chance ,, I'll reconnect it tomorrow morning .. and take it to get filled up with gas .. and see ehwere it goes from there ,,
