Default DRL/Turn signals!!!

I have 99 TA and the DRL/turn signals blow about weekly or every time it rains/wash car.
Now I know that this is a common issue with these cars, but what all do I need to do in order to fix this permanently??
Just new housings? or new sockets? or everything? just want to get this fixed any help would be nice thansk

I replaced sockets and bulbs, then sealed it up with some silicone RTV. Pretty easy fix and no problems yet to be seen. Bought sockets for 6.99ea at O'Reilly's and bulbs for about the same. All in all about a $20-30 fix and doesnt take all night to do it.

I went ahead & grabbed a new set of housings, new sockets from Autozone (part# 85881). I'm gonna run a bead of silicone around the edge & drill a weep hole in it. The new sockets came with new gaskets.

You just need new housings. Press on the outside with your finger and that will expose the cracks. In the interim, you can use some clear lens tape to seal them or drill a weep hole in the bottom to let the water drain out.

A weep hole will cause you problems by letting moisture in. The lenses already have a vapor relief that will let any condensation out. They just can't deal with cracks that let in large volumes of water.

Where did you get your new housing at and how much $$? I've already got a weep in each one, and i was kinda curious if it actually helps or if water would just splash up into the housing through the small hole.

unless your driving through deep water it cant really splash up into there from the bottom, there is the access panel there. I got my lenses used off a member on here but they were off a low mileage garage kept car, no cracks. I know they can be had used & heard some people found them on Amazon cheaper than most others. Try ebay too.

New pigtails will need to be spliced in, but you don't have to do that!

See post #25 here for a splice-less procedure: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...ing-ideas.html

If you just change out the socket body, insert, and seal, you can avoid splicing wires. You can purchase the parts needed individually from Mouser or you can deconstruct a repair pigtail assembly to get the parts. (But this is more expensive - not counting the shipping.)

Woah! They have gone up in price since I ordered mine!

When you search for the insert, Mouser should give you two parts. One with the exact part number - that's for a bulk package. Mouser will also give you the same number with a "-B" after it. That number is for the individual parts, which is the one you want to order. Its $3 for a single socket insert.
