Default Lq4 ticks/snaps randomly after cam swap??

I have a 2000 lq4, just removed one of the heads, swapped to gmpp blue valve springs, got a Vinci ultra torque cam, and long tubes. got it all back together and started it up. ran great. Idled about 700 rpm, no ticks knocks etc. started it up and let it run about 7 times over the next week. let the truck sit for a week. battery went dead, hooked it up to another battery with jumper cables. wont start with out giving it some gas. wont stay running without giving it a little gas, keeping rpm about 800 to keep it running. wont idle on its own. and it now has a random tick/snapping sound coming from the passenger side valve cover. took the cover off and turned the motor over with the starter, it looks like every thing is working good and no snap/tick noise. I have no idea whats wrong with it, and if Im probably just gonnna run it and see what happens. Any Ideas?

I had a similar sound happen to my engine. And turned out to be 10 of the 16 lifter were trashed and so was the cam....dunno why mine went south the way they did but check your pushrods if you haven't replaced them...check length and preload. After that I'd dig into it further. The only way I can descibe the sound I had is like a 3-4 beat tap or snap that would come and go. But was more noticable off the gas than on it. It eventually got to the point it became more regular at idle. Good luck.
