Motor Clucking (video)
I purchased a mostly stock (I was told) 2000 Camaro SS about 4 months ago w/65K miles. The second day of owning the car I noticed a clucking sound coming from the motor. When I first heard it, it sounded like it was coming from underneath the car but on closer inspection its coming from the top of the motor. I read on here to use a broom handle as a stethescope and when I place it on the #1 cylinder exhaust manifold, I can hear it best. The car has excellent oil pressure and I ran a 13.5 @ 105 a few weeks ago.
Other things to note: when the car is first started, you dont hear it, then it gradually fades in after 30 or so seconds. Its louder when its cold, after warm you still hear it and its marginally quieter. The sound cannot be heard above 1100 RPM or so and does speed with the motor.
My brothers 5.3 truck motor makes a similar sound but its MUCH quieter.
Its so annoying to hear this bouncing off the garage walls and buildings as i pull up.
Anyway, heres a video if you want to take a listen and have any ideas. Thanks.
