Default HELP Slave Cylinder/Clutch fork

So i got a new hydraulic slave cylinder for my 1997 Camaro SS M6. I hooked up the new slave to the hydraulic line, and since it has a bleeder screw, hooked it up as the instructions said. I opened the resevoir and filled it up before i started pumping, i began pumping the clutch and it just goes back an forth, i pumped many times and it appears to not be building any pressure. WHy could this be?

Also another thing, first off the reason im doing this is because my car stopped running, it was making bad noises when i would depress the clutch, and as it got worse the noise would be present (not as loud) when the clutch was NOT depressed. Then one day i went to start it, the car bucked, and then shut off, and the clutch was stuck, i could not push it in. As I went to install the new slave, i noticed that I was able to, with my bare hand, move the clutch fork back and forth, should I be able to do this? Or is it, as I feared, a bigger problem that I'm going to have to pull the tranny for.
