Preventive maintenance would be replacing anything that would typically fail with after a per-determined time before it has a chance to fail. You seem to have covered the basics...

Water Pump
Alternator
PS Pump

Have you replaced the battery? Spark plugs and wires? Changed the fluids (Gear, trans, brake, coolant)? If you have the engine open, I would replace the timing chain and oil pump.

Most people wait until parts fail because it can get expensive.

With that many miles if you have the coin getting the heads redone is never a bad thing and replace the oil pump and timing chain.

am I correct in assuming that the timing chain is inside the block and to the rear ?...Meaning I will have to remove the entire motor .....which I wont be doing at all . If I were to pull the motor itd be to replace it completely with a better motor preferably with zero miles on it

No, the oil pump and chain are behind the timing chain cover behind the water pump.

At 220 K I had some leaks to deal with also.
I ended up replacing all top end gaskets (not head gaskets) also swapped valve seals, valve springs, oil pressure sending unit , and knock sensors. I sent the fuel injectors out to be cleaned and flowed.
Once the intake manifold is off, accessing the top of the engine becomes much easier, and whle you are in there, you might as well go after the low hanging fruit.

BTW, It is also a good time to take a good look at the PCV system, the hoses and fittings seem to get brittle and break at the back of the engine after a decade or so.

The rear end needs and axel and wheel bearings done so I was gonna do both sides.

Does the LS6 PCV system come in a kit of some kind (just personal preference) and yes a knock sensor needs to be replaced.

I bought my car used but I read somewhere since its a 2002 T/A it did not come with a EGR system is this correct......and if not will I run into issues putting a LS6 PCV system into that mix ?

Regarding the LS6 PCV system, you still need to do it even if its a 2002.

I would stress the intake manifold gaskets, just make sure you install them right. The po of my car did it wrong and I found out the hard way ($3500 repair). I'm not the only one this happened to either:

You said your car was an 01-02 right? 01-02 came with an LS6 intake manifold from the factory

And the stock PCV system is the cause of our motors eating oil, which you can switch to the LS6 which helps with the issue.
