Default Vista-Pro LT1 radiator fill neck problems??

I just installed the LT1 Vista Pro radiator, and everything went fine, except that when I went to put the new LS1 stock cap (AC Delco # RC94, GM # 10316828) on it was VERY tough to get on, and to get it solid I had to turn it PAST the 'lineup' arrows overflow tube point.

To get it back off, I had to use a Craftsman strap wrench around the plastic part of the cap, while holding the cap down with my other hand with ALL MY MIGHT!!!

Did I use the wrong cap??
Rock Auto lists the same EXACT caps for BOTH the LT1 AND LS1, so I think not.

Is there ANY aftermarket cap which fits the Vista Pros any better than this???
Is their filler neck moulding really that radically different than the stocker?

Thanks in advance,

Dave H.

No one else had issues?

I'm looking at either the Spectra or Vista-Pro LT1 radiator from RockAuto. Would like to get the best one since they are essentially the same price.

So you put an LS1 radiator cap on an LT1 radiator and had issues, am I reading that right?

Did you try an LT1 radiator cap for the LT1 radiator?

I also have an LT1 radiator with my LS1. I don't have any issues like where described, but I looked up the caps and they are the same part numbers for both radiators. When I would tighten the cap on my LS1 radiator, it would go beyond the line up arrows. I was using an acdelco rc94 cap. It might just be the particular radiator you got. Maybe its out of spec.

I've noticed that on the stock radiators that LT1's and LS1's differ in design for the caps, so I was unsure if aftermarket would all be the same.

I have also heard of some people having finishing issues on the vista-pro radiators (LT1 variants specifically). Thus is why I'm saving up for a Be-Cool radiator instead

I picked up the Spectra from Summit. The same part number is listed for LS1 and LT1 so I think it comes with the block off caps for the coolant level sensor and such that the LT1 use but the LS1 doesn't. It's still the LT1 core however.

It's what NAPA resells with a lifetime warranty.
