Default Reward offered (if you can internet diagnos) this noise

Seriously, it is driving me that crazy...(and sorry for the long post)
Car in sig - suspension=BMR TA w/cross-member relocation, Spohn LCA on weld-in relocation brackets, rod-ended PHB, SLP subframe connectors, DMS lowering springs, stock shocks.

Symptom - loud banging/rattle only on small bumps (gravel road, road reflectors, 2-3 shift, downshifts, surging in 4th gear decel) another words very small suspension movement.

This is a 16K car and I just did poly MM, new FLT trans, new gm rubber trans mount (made same noise before this too). I have had the car on 2-post and drive-on lifts. Checked and tightened everything. Cannot duplicate noise on drive-on lift. It is NOT the classic ORY noise, shocks mounts not loose, spring isolator good, u-joints good, TA mounts good, pinon/gear lash checked and new oil, nothing loose in the trunk, etc.

I will try to get video sound this week and post. Ask any question or offer things to try. I am

I will paypal some $$ if you find it!

Wow, I was hoping you got it figured out. I hadn't heard back from you and was wondering what the status was. This has me baffled as well. I was sure the test on a drive on lift would be able to pin point it.

It's funny actually, the same day I talked to you my personal car started doing the exact same thing on the way home. Luckily mine turned out just to be the bolts on one side of the trans crossmember had worked their way loose. But it was doing exactly as you were describing. I was starting to think it was contagious

Thanks for talking with me on the phone yesterday. If only mine were so simple.

It was actually Kyle you spoke with yesterday, but we are both equally confused. If it comes down to it, bring it up here and we will put it up on the lift and try to find out what's going on

Check your sway bar links. Amazing how even slightly bad ones can rattle so loud.

If you are unsure on how to do that, youtube can probably help.

Let me know if I'm the winner

it's your lower control arms and the rod end and poly bushing. mine does the exact same thing with umi lca's same as yours, drove me nuts after putting new axle in. if you get under the car and bang on the lca by hand you can hear and almost feel the same noise that you hear driving. i think it's a matter of the poly bushing on the car being such a close tight fit and the lca being a bar that it transmits the noise into the car. i've removed my rear sway bar and drove the car and still had the noise. swapped out the lca's with my oem ones but left the umi panhard bar (poly bushing and rod end) and noise went away.

had the same issue ..

my bet goes to rod end play on those lcas, mine did .. sometime the slack is so small that you cant even feel it moving it by hand. try installing the oem ones if you have them in hand or ask a friend just to take those lcas of the suspect list.. remember to tight them good with the rear susp loaded.

Update...just got home and had my son shake car side to side by grasping the rear wheel. Got a clunking noise that sounds like outer axle bearings shot (or possibly posi unit?). Sound feasible?? Transferring noise through stout suspension stuff??

^ Noise you are hearing is more than likely slight play from the c-clip, I have the same noise and it never changed even after blowing up 5 different stock rear ends, all the rear ends had the same noise side to side like you explained.

Also for the clunk noise if you have an over the axle exhaust check to make sure that it is not making contact with the body right above the axle. I have seen this before with people pushing the catback too far forward, of course this is dependant on the type of exhaust you have.

^^Thanks, I have checked that also. And wouldn't it hit on the larger bumps too? Check first post, because of the shift/decel surge, still pointing me to rear end. Still open to all things to check though...

Noise is coming from rear but is magnified though whole car, but I would say felt under passenger seat.
