Default seat belt light flickers/stays on...

When I push down on the seat belt the light goes off. Is there a loose wire or sensor? Do I have to remove the seat to access it?

Thanks!

Wow that's easy, thanks for the info! Now heres the million dollar question. Isn't the seat belt tied into the airbag system? Its a street car so I would still like for those to go off in a worst case scenario!

In my 15 years of experience working on cars professionally and also having fun setting off a few air bags the answer is no, I have seen accidents where the driver was not wearing a seat belt and the bags went off... not good!

In new high end cars, I understand that the Airbag systems use the seatbelt switches as an input but our cars were made before adaptive airbags - so its just a light.

This happened to me, so I put on my Captain **** cape and replaced the buckle assembly. (I like to keep everything on the car working as it was delivered from the factory.) Fortunately, we don't seem to get screwed too bad on seat belt replacement parts and GM keeps them stocked in their distribution centers.
