Default How much to have new motor mounts installed?

I'm needing a set of motor mounts put on my 99 SS and was wondering how much I should expect to pay for labor? Should I go back with factory replacements or poly?

Thanks,
DwDrummer

I had my own shells and poly mounts installed for $160. I have had no issues with the poly either.

I'd guess it'd be a few hundred bucks. It's not difficult to do yourself, especially if doing headers at the same time.

I don't know how much on $ but I put in poly mounts a few years ago and am happy with them so far.

First off you have an amazing looking car!

I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred dollars for labor on a job like that. I have done so many that I can get them done in a couple hours but I would expect most shops to charge 3-4 hours of labor. I personally would recommend using the Energy Suspension or Prothane polyurethane motor mounts which will in conjunction with your factory motor mount clam shells. These motor mounts will offer good movement control without adding much NVH.

With either these poly engine mounts, or solid alloy engine mounts, do you suggest a stock/oem rubber trans mount be installed so as to not shake one's fillings loose??

I really don't like solid motor mounts much at all because they create their own set of headaches. Most of the guys I deal with aren't worried with a little extra added NVH so most of them run polyurethane motor mounts and transmission mount. If you are worried about adding too much NVH to the car you can definitely run the polyurethane motor mounts with a rubber transmission mount it will minimize that.

As an FYI... I noticed absolutely no difference in NVH between my 70k mile OE mounts and new Prothane mounts. I'll be installing a Prothane transmission and torque arm mount in the upcoming weeks as well

I had to actually take out my ES poly trans mount due to fear that it would actually cause me nerve damage over time, it was shaking so badly!

This was with worn. rubber. OEM engine mounts though, so it might be better with poly engine mounts??
