Default Can I tighten this rubber exhaust clamp?

This clamp is not tight enough to keep my tailpipe from rattling. Can I fix it or do I buy a new one? Thanks.

That's not a clamp, it's a hanger; the difference being that you can't tighten a hanger. If you have aftermarket exhaust, you may have to modify various hangers to prevent banging with some systems. But a new one won't fix your problem, because it will be exactly the same as the one you have pictured (other than being less rusty). The rubber insulator shown above is in fine shape and a new one won't help.

I used a worm gear clamp to tighten mine up.

A hose clamp can be used to compress the rubber insulator some but, depending on how/where the pipe needs to be moved to, this may not offer enough adjustability to fix the problem.

I think my best bet will be welding a bracket from the metal tube on the bottom to the frame. Going over bumps do you thint this noise would sound like a lug nut in a tin can lol?

Well you definitely want some sort of insulator, otherwise exhaust system vibrations will be transferred directly to the frame. There are various universal hangers that can be used and welded/cut to suit your needs, generally they all contain some sort of rubber to dampen vibration.

I used a large tie wrap http://www.lowes.com/pd_292678-1781-...ductId=3201639. Used it to even out the tail pipes, wrapped it around the rubber mount to squeeze it together. Its been on there for almost fifteen years / 170,000 miles.

Great idea, surprised the tie wrap holds it tight enough.
