Default NGK TR5 or TR55?

Hey everyone,

I haven't changed my spark plugs within the two months of owning my car. I wanted to know exactly what is the best "plugs" between the TR5 & TR55?

I daily my car every day & it's bone stock with everything.

I read various threads about the TR5 and TR55 and haven't been able to find solid answer.

Since it's a daily driven vehicle, what is the best spark plugs for a '99 Trans A4?
I attached a link of TR5 spark plugs on the NGK website (part number 2238); Are these one of the plugs a majority of LS owners use on their LS1?

http://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=10156

Thank You,
LTX_Alex

Can you provide a part number or a website on where I can find them? I would appreciate it if you can & are you stock too?

if you go up to Advanced or any auto parts store and tell them you want NGK TR55's they will get them for you. Think like 8 bucks a pop. Or google for them and a thousand results will come up

TR55 would be the correct factory gap and heat range, stock number for that is #3951 I believe. The TR5's have a smaller factory gaping from what I recall, but the heat range would be the same.

TR55 is what I would recommend for a stock/bolt-on/moderately modified application.

Ok, thank you so much for your recommendation. I'll go ahead and purchase the TR55 spark plugs.

Same here. The tr55 iridiums have been great for me. I change them every 100k. No. 8 actually went 180k with no issues (I was too lazy to change it at 100k) and let it go another 80k when I changed them all again.

.050 is the best gap for N/A LSx engines, at any RWHP level up to about 700....or when you go full time race gas and high compression.

^^This^^ They are the same plug w/different gaps. Never trust factory gapping, gap them yourself. Check each one out of the box and none will be exactly the same. And if you drop one on the concrete, throw it in the trash and get another one. They are <$2 each at my AA.
