Intermittent No Crank. 3.8L
Hi everyone,
I am dealing with an intermittent no-crank on my fiance's 96 Firebird with a 3.8L and an automatic.
Sometimes the car starts first time with no issues, and other times you'll get this symptom:
You'll go start the car and all the dash lights come on, when you turn the key to crank all you get is a single click and the dash lights all remain lit (no dimming or flickering). Usually, waiting a couple minutes, or cycling the key back and fourth a few times does the trick and the car will eventually crank and start.
I loaded tested the battery and it's good, I also checked all the connections at the battery and everything looks good. Headlights are bright so I think I am getting good power to the starter.
I am leaning towards replacing the starter (and solenoid), but before I spend the money I was wondering if there is anything else I can check?
Thanks!
