Default Code P0107 MAP sensor

So I'm getting this code pretty regularly and I've got inspection coming up, so I need to really start looking at fixing this.

Is this common enough problem that I should just replace it and hope for the best?

What's the difficulty level in changing this, as I cannot physically see where it's located. I'm assuming it's at the back of the intake. I'm really hoping I don't have to remove the intake.

Any help would be great.

The sensor is easy to replace. It just pops/snaps in. For the 98+ V8, it's a little hard to find in the engine bay, but once you get there - it's easy. The only little thing is that you lube the seal of the sensor with motor oil before installing the new one.

AutoZone has a complete diagnostics and install guide: http://www.autozone.com/repairinfo/r...00c152800b85df

^ If you have a voltmeter, you can do some checks on the old one before buying a new one. I had to replace mine a few years ago, so its not uncommon that they would go bad. I don't recall them being too expensive, either.

Is it at the back of the intake on the passenger side? Obviously you can't see back there, so I'd be working blind.

Well, I think I see it there....

Even with my skinny arms, I think I'll struggle getting to it.

I work at a parts store, so I can do a test unit if needed.

Yea, that was it. All the way at the back of the intake. The Autozone link has a good drawing of the sensor and bracket all the way at the bottom of the page. I recall needing an inspection mirror but doing not of the work by feel.

Well, I changed the map sensor out last weekend and have been driving it all week with no check engine coming back. So far, so good!

Also, I had my BRAKE, ABS and ASR lights coming on constantly and changed out my switch because it wasn't acting right. Ended up fixing that problem as well. So for a change, I have no warning lights coming on anymore.

Congratulations. Now you just have to worry about blue lights showing up in your mirror instead of red lights on your dash!
