After 170K mi and 15.5 years, the heater core is slightly leaking in my 2002 SS - I can't really complain about the longevity of the part, but while doing some internet shopping, I found that there is a huge price disparity between the AC Delco and the other heater cores. The price for the AC Delco heater core is well over $125 vs $30 - $40 for the other brands.

Is this a case of you get what you pay for or is it just paying 4X as much for the AC Delco "name" on a part that's made by the same supplier and distributed under different brand names?

So does anyone have any experience with:
AC Delco heater core p/n 1560051 {#52468039} GM Original Equipment
vs SPECTRA PREMIUM/COOLING DEPOT 94760 {#52468039}
or APDI/PRO 9010258 {#52458963, 52468039} or any other brand/model number heater core?

BTW - I'm doing this and some other maintenance so that I can put her up for sale to a good home knowing that the maintenance items have been addressed. As soon as the job is done, I'll be putting the SS up for sale. (FYI I'm the original owner and ordered the car from the factory and have all the documentation, so if you are interested just PM me for details)

I've had good luck with Spectra products. In todays world who knows if the Delco part is made by Spectra for Delco?

I had seen some comments that the Spectra heater cores looked flimsy but worked fine, but decided to try the AC Delco anyway. Of course I won't have anything to compare the new heater core to except for the original, but I will let folks know if the AC Delco looks like the original or not.
