Default Do you need a Dorman 74408 Window Guide?

Hi all,

I have been dealing with a window guide issue for several weeks now and have finally had enough. I've looked everywhere for Dorman's 74408 replacement as an option for my 1998 4th Gen Camaro and have come up empty handed. I can't believe no one makes this part.

Until now....

As it turns out, about 6 months ago I acquired a plastic injection machine for other purposes, but given that I need my window to work to pass vehicle inspection and don't want to spend tons of time and/or money to replace an entire window when all I need is a simple plastic part I am tempted to use it for an additional purpose.

With that said, I am ready to contribute to the Camaro community. Here is your chance to speak up and let me know if there is sufficient interest for an ABS injected guide wheel around a replacement ball stud, similar to the ball stud listed in the post below:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...s-removal.html

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

-Andrew

Neat idea man. It seems like our cars are in a weird area where classic parts companies don't make our stuff yet but new parts are getting scarce. I think if you made a batch and listed them on eBay you'd get some decent interest

Referring back to post #1,this is what I did in 2012,still holding up well. Used a thick metal 'washer',was noisy at first, then appied a lot of grease to it and the rail and became quiet.

Did the exact same thing and it's been holding up for several years now.

are you still doing this?? I will take 2!! It's insane how impossible it is to find this yet it's so important. I've got the same crack in the sheet metal and a threaded version to add a washer to would solve my problem.

Any chance you still have a couple of these available? Or maybe you're willing to make a couple more? I've got a line on the ball studs - it's the window roller/guide that I'm having a great deal of difficulty locating.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I did the same but it's rattling too much. Thanks for the idea. It was a good temp fix for a few months. I'm just gonna have my old one welded in place. I have to get a muffler installed this week anyway.
