Default Ram Air Intake Missing Air Pump Hose Port?

So the ram air intake box I currently have on my 2000 WS6 is being replaced due to age. Its cracking and I'm doing other mods and I felt a new intake box would be just easier to have.

So I purchased an original 2002 GM WS6 ram air intake box but I noticed there is no port on it anywhere for the air pump hose which feeds the engine for emissions purposes.

Am I missing something here? I've included a picture of my current box with the hose attached. Can't miss it its in the center of the pic.

But there is no such port on the new box.

If there is no AIR port, then it's not originally from a 2000-02 car. The '98-'99 models didn't draw AIR pump air from the box, so they have no port - so the box (or, at least the silencer portion) you just purchased is actually from a '98-'99 if it doesn't have the port. Someone may have been using it on their 2002 car after deleting the AIR pump, but it originally had to come from an earlier model.

either drill the air box for the air pump hole or just put a filter directly on the air pump

^ That's exactly what we did in the early days of the 2000+ model cars. The only air lids on the market at the time didn't have a provision for the AIR tube since '98-'99 cars didn't need it, so we used a K&N breather filter inserted into that tube. I think the part number for this filter was 62-1030. My memory is pretty good, but it's been 17+ years since I needed to order one of those filters so, if that's the route you decide to go, I'd recommend double checking the part number before ordering.
