Default Turn signals not working/turn signal broken.

Hey guys so just got my car back from the paint shop when I got in and drove off I realized my turn signal arm was just limp no clicking no retention nothing it just flops up and down. Of course the shop said it was already like that. My question is has anyone had this problem brights cruise control and wipers all work it's just the arm itself and signals that are the problem. From what iv read sounds like it's going to be the entire PITA job off taking the steering wheel off etc. but I haven't read one on here with these same symptoms. Any help would be appriciated.

Correct. It would be a problem with the turn signal switch mechanism. Either the mechanism itself or the springs that are a part of it.

Good News - The springs can be had from any parts store for under $3.
Bad News - You have to take the top part of the column apart to get to them.

See this thread. Step #20. https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...mn-repair.html

What work did you have done?

This may be more of a pain in the *** for people that daily there f- body but I just lift the turn signal up until it starts blinking, I don't fully let it click into place. Some things with these cars you have to walk on egg shells about.

That's pretty radical to protect a $2 spring that only needs to be replaced every 85-150K miles.

You'll need a few special tools, also but the cost of that is far less than an hour of work at a shop!
