Service engine soon lights ??
I recently bought this car
YEAR: 2000
MAKE: PONTIAC
MODEL: FIREBIRD FORMULA
MILES: 80,000
ENGINE: 5.7L V8 LS1
It didnt have lights on when I bought it, but it's been sitting for a year, but has been in Florida for 16 out of 18years. I Cleaned the engine and triggered the SES Soon light... The codes were read from diagnostic check and they are below:
B0753 -tranmission 1st and 2nd solinoid
P1626 - Anti-theft deterrent, possible new ignition switch
P1637 - Generator L Terminal, possible alternator connector.
The car shifts a little rough from 1st-2nd *(auto), othen then that car runs good and is in good shape. It's only got 80,000 miles and I know it needs tires, an antenna and could use a new front bumper but not right needed. Does anyone know how to fix these codes, cheapest, most effective way??.. Thanks!

P1626 CHEVROLET - Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Not Received
Possible causes
Faulty ignition switch
Ignition switch harness is open or shorted
ignition switch circuit poor electrical connection
Incorrect ignition key
P1637 CHEVROLET - Generator L-Terminal Circuit
Possible causes:
Faulty Generator (Alternator)
Generator harness is open or shorted
Generator circuit poor electrical connection
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) programming
Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
(That's what bleepster did for the one code above.) You can get detailed hints, causes, etc. from these sites.
As bleepster points out, the codes are 5 digits, so one of your codes is too short.

The B0753 Code was for my 1st to 2nd gear solenoid transmission. That's why the light came on and why it shifts a little rough, only the first two gears. I guess I have to drop the oil pan to get to these, watch for a spring load Solenoid "A" and replace B as well.
I also got the car on a lift, their was fresh oil all over the pan, around filter and dripping into floor. He thought I had a major leak somewhere, but the car hasn't been driven much, its been sitting in my garage. Once we realized the oil filter wasn't even on, it was very loose the previous owner said he just did the oil change last 50 Mike's guessing he could but reach under to tighten properly and it came loose as car was moved. I am hoping I don't have a major oil leak cuz last thing I want is a LEMON! 80,000 Miles and no rust but does need a few here and there. Thanks everyone
