What are ya'll using if its not OEM. Mine are shot and non functional, having a hard time finding the OEM stuff. Those rubber composite looking pieces that keep the battery from moving around.

Dorman makes them. You should be able to order them through any parts store:

I was following this and thanks for those rubber piece links. Hopefully OP will understand if I also ask (since he did get his answer) what the part # for the actual holder is? Mine is broken

If you click on the links, the part numbers are right in there.

The battery tray is integral to the coolant overflow tank - so to replace the tray, you need to pull the overflow tank and replace it. Usually, that is the part that breaks. It has the hook that grabs one side of the battery. The loose block that clamps the other side of the battery is a lot more durable.

So it’s broken on both sides. Does removing this just consist of one bolt? Isn’t there suppose to be a bolt holding down the rubber holder? I removed the bolt, but there isn’t much play to move the tray.

Pull the rubber hose straight out like a whisky distiller sampling a barrel and then it should come right out once you've removed that bolt.

No. Rubber hose stays on metal tube and the metal tube just comes straight up and out. (The rubber hose is permanently crimped on.)

I've done something similar. I cut a small wood block to fit in this gap, preventing the battery from tilting forward during braking (which seems to be the stress that causes the battery tray lip to crack and fail). I painted it black and tucked it down far enough that it's not at all noticeable under cursory inspection. But it does the job, and should prevent future lip breakage.

I got the grommet off, cut a little slit in it though. I will have to RTV that up. Now i have that rusted bolt stuck in the picture above that I need to somehow get out. There is no head to it.

The rusted bolt to the left side of the picture? If so, that doesn't hold the tank down. It's the bolt that holds the free battery clamp down to the tray. The tank should come out with that as-is.

Yeah i have the tank out, there is no head on that rusted bolt you see. I have to remove it to put a new battery clamp on. Any suggestions? Vice grips maybe and attempt to twist off the jacked up threads, lol.

Why do you need to remove it? You are replacing the whole tank it's attached to, right? On the right side of the picture you are missing an entire lip that holds the other side of the battery, opposite the removable clamp. The whole tank needs to be replaced and you'll need a new clamp bolt and captive nut.

Order that new tank and things will be easier to see.

Yes - the nut is held in a captive "clamp" molded into the plastic underneath the deck. The bolt goes through the loose part of the clamp and then through the hold and into the captive nut.

If your clamp doesn't come with a new bolt... they are really hard to find - but LS1Tech has the hookup. See post #4 in this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...-t-remove.html
