What is the best techniche to use to know if your engine is in compression stroke or exhaust stroke as you manually turn the crank .. ive seen the a balloon technique or a straw..but want to know best method..maybe my compression tester?

If it started right up on 1st start [[AND IT DID ] am on on track as far as compression stroke ?

LOL....This is a GM forum. I have just put my finger over the #1 spark plug hole while turning the crank. As for the bolt spec...the internet is your friend
