What is the viscocity of Mobil 1 5w30 vs their 0W40 (which I cannot find anywear near me) vs the castrol german 0w30? I would like to go with a thicker viscocity oil to minimize my problem. I appreciate any input ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)

Mobil 1 0w40 is around 14.2 to 14.4 cst at 100c.
As I mentioned, Castrol 0w30 is 12.2 cst, so it's nicely in the middle of those two, and based on my wear numbers in my last oil report I'd say it's the ideal viscosity, at least based on my climate and driving habits.

Just as a note to all:
I live in Michigan, Grand Rapids area, where there is an Autozone every 6 miles.
I didn't have any problem finding 6 qrts of GC 0W30.
I am not sure if anyone is still having problems finding it, but I just wanted to let people know it is available around here.

You know if a place like Thunder would start carrying this oil they would probably be able to sell alot of it. I can find it around here but I sometimes have to go to multiple autozones to avoid getting the yellow stuff.

Don't let the 0w number scare you, this oil can handle the heat very well.

Patman, would you recommend the german castrol 0-30 in vehicles such as a 1998 jeep wrangler with the inline 6 with rougly 50k miles?
How about a toyota avalon with the 3.0, rougly 100k miles?
Neither have any leaks and run very well.
Thank you. Just trying to see if you recommend this oil only for newer engines or for use on a higher mileage engine.

It will work well in higher mileage engines too, I ran it in my 95 Formula which had over 100k on it and it worked out very well.
For your Jeep though, those engines tend to like something a little bit thicker. For that engine I'd recommend the Mobil 1 5w40 Truck and SUV. Jeep owners have seen good results with this oil and other oils of this type. Another good choice that isn't as costly would be Rotella synthetic 5w40, which some people have found for $13 a gallon at their local Walmart in the US.
