I crawled under there last night. No adjustment. I guess I was thinking of a different car, or a 3rd gen, maybe.

The LS cars have the cable adjustment by the handle and the drum adjustment between the shoes. I stand corrected.

I went to adjust mine the other day and only the passanger side would adjust.. The driver side wouldn't.... I've done it before but this time the gear wouldn't spin very well and it wouldn't adjust the pad.

Any ideas why?

Kinda off topic (since I didn't do it myself):
My car went to the dealer three times before they got it right (under warranty & last summer). The third, and final, time it had to be towed there... why you ask? Because on my way home after the second time, I heard some **** rattle loose and smack (???) the of my car. I figured something fell off when the rattling stopped and almost immediately, in my rear view mirror, saw some **** bouncing on the road behind me. I stopped, ran back about 20 yards, and picked up these two HUGE nuts. So, I drove the last mile home then called and bitched at the (Woodbridge, VA) Pontiac dealer. But hey, the e-brake works now...

Have you pulled the center console and looked yet? I can't remember how the parts worked together, but if you remove the center console it's easy to see what part is popping.

Same thing happens to me, every now and then you will pull it up and it pops then just goes loose. You just bring it all the way back down and pull up on it again and it is fine. I don't understand that.

There's a little spring loaded catch that acts like a ratchet. You can hear it click as you pull up. When you push the button it pushes the catch out of the teeth. Sometimes the spring that holds the little catch gets weak and pops out on it's own.
