Default ACDelco Platinum Plug #41-932??

I went to autozone to get replacement plugs and asked for the stock part # and they give me part # 41-932. They claim that this replaces the part # in the manual 41-952 <Don't quote me on that last #...just going off memory>. My car has been pinging and I am wondering if these plugs are NOT the right ones for my car. I gapped them at .60. I have replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires, front 02 sensors, cleaned MAF sensor, replaced PCV valve, all vaccum hoses replaced, plus I have used Top end cleaner twice, 170 thermo/flush cooling system, and nothing has helped. I am now re-evaluating the plugs. Are these the correct ones?

Try NGK TR-55, that's what most guys on here run including myself. About $1.50 a piece. I don't think auto zone carries them though.

the gm sponser at the right of the page says item does not exist, so i'd say that is not the correct number.

The stock platinum plug is a AC DELCO 41-985 & you leave the gap at .40!!!

I have the box in front of me for the ACDelco Platinums that Autozone sold me.....there's a 41-932.....and also there is a # 25162556 on the box. The factory plugs that I pulled off the car are 41-952.......? Now I'm confused.....so the plugs from the factory AND the ones that autozone sold me were both the wrong ones? Also, I thought the gap was supposed to be .60? BTW a '00 LS1

Part # 25162556 is the plugs used for the 4.3, 5.0 & 5.7 Vortec motors, not the LS series Vortec motors(4.8, 5.3, 5.7 & 6.0).... You need part#12571164( 41-985 ), trust me & don't mess with the gap on platinum plugs as they are pre-gapped from the factory... If you're still having a hard time believing me, call your local dealer & have them confirm it!

Thanks for the info....I guess Autozone screwed up on this one. You wouldn't happen to know by chance what the difference is between the plugs in there now and the 41-985's? My car has been pinging and I think I just found out why!! Thanks for the help!

Hey no problem, that's usually the case when you go to Autozone anyways!! If you still have the 41-932 in there, the ones Autozone gave you, they are a shorter plug & are made for 96-98 style vortec trucks... The 41-985's are a longer plug & made for the LS series motors... Your original plugs(41-952) GM part#25315018 change to part#12571164(41-985) not the 41-932... Hope I made this clear for you, as it can get confusing for some... So take those back to Autozone & tell them you want the part# I gave you & that they should fix their parts catalogs!

Thanks for the help! I also ran into this on the board a couple mins ago:

This is a GM TSB:

1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette
1998-2002 Chevrolet Camaro
1998-2002 Pontiac Firebird
2004 Pontiac GTO

A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01 mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.

Learn something new every day!
Thanks!
