2 Front speakers Blown

Can i replace to 2 front 6.5" Monsoon speakers with any speaker? I heard that the monsoon system runs at 8 ohms or something so jusy any old speaker wont work correctly in its place. Is this true?

I just replaced a rear sail panel 6.5 inch speaker with a new GM part for $ 55 delivered.

I imagine the fronts are a similar cost. There is a thread where someone replaced these with I think some Alpines and was pleased with the results.

yeah. the factory speakers are two ohms. higher impedance speakers will draw less power, normally netting less volume.(that depends on the speaker's efficiency)

Keep in mind if u replace the door speakers that they arent 6.5's They are actually 6.75 which are sometimes called 7 in. Ive got kenwood (KFC-1789ie) in mine and they are awesome. Your factory speakers are dual voice coil and its kinda hard to find replacements that are duals that wont break your pocket. You will have 2 wires one the back, one is on a low pass, the other is full range. All you have to do when u get new ones is use the full range wire. 6.5's will fit but not exactly right most of the time.Another lil trick to getting alot more "upfront sound" is to get rid of the rears completely and extend the wires to the middle spots and use the same speakers in the middle as u did the front.I had to do this because i have 3 image dynamics IDQ 10's in the hatch and they just drown out the rear mids.
